Pilot Letters Family
For the creation of Pilot Letters, Daniel Schludi used a minimal palette of curves and angles. It’s simplicity and back-to-basics form is inspired by upright manuscript trace fonts of the 1980s. These fonts were originally created to help young students trace and write characters of the latin alphabet.
Analyzing this practice of print typography and merging it with new interpretations of basic geometric forms helped the designer to develop advanced shapes and outlines for his typeface. Pilot Letters’ appearance derives from this basis and develops into an advanced and mature typeface without losing its naivety and friskiness. Daniel Schludi
